BURGERS, SHOCK AND ME!!!
Oh! It was shocking!!! Shocking to be at “FIFHT”
Karachi Literature Festival (klf), shocking to see the crowd, actually I was
shocked to see so many people attending klf …really??Is it a city of that much
literate people??
Let it be, however the festival itself was so
informative, sessions were really cool and the speakers… OMG! They were the
masters of their fields. Seriously hats off to Oxford for organizing such an
extra ordinary event in Karachi Pakistan considering the law and order
situations.
As a nation we should be thankful to the guest
speakers also who came all the way from other countries just for the festival,
for literature, for the people of Pakistan. Knowing that there life is at stake
what? Am I being rude? Accept it…its how it is in here.
Well the crowd there was sober and quiet, personally
I belong to a middle class family and we middle class are very noisy people but
the gentry at klf was not much talkative except for the speakers (they were
forced to speak). Anyhow I guess they were elites (exceptions are always there
like me) so they don’t make much noise, they just don’t have to make noise like
us they get their rights without it (most of the times).
Crowd was calm even during the dance performances
which were shocking again….how come if some group is dancing along with a
“girl” and no one is hooting, no one doing bhangra or no CHICHORAPAN???
At times I was forced to think that these are the
real Karachiites na?? These are the same people who mix biryani with zardah and
haleem with jaleebi?? And to my great surprise they were the real Burgers not
the usual “bun kababs”.
